Dr. Steve Lai

Dr. Lai is a Therapeutic Optometrist and an Optometric Glaucoma Specialist providing eye care in Houston, Texas. His training allows him to provide the very latest treatment options and his dedication truly sets him apart from the rest.

He has lived in the Houston area for twenty-three years and graduated from the University of Houston College of Optometry in 1996. His training included glaucoma/refractive surgery externship at the Hermann Eye Center followed by a specialty contact lens/ocular disease externship at St. Lukes Hospital.

Before joining the Vision Source, Dr. Lai was a clinical instructor at the Settegast Health Center and a clinical investigator for the University of Texas Health Science Center. His research projects involved testing new medications used in glaucoma treatments.

Dr. Lai believes strongly in giving back to the community. He currently serves on the advisory board of the Periwinkle Foundation and is a counselor at Camp Yolo.  He is an active member of the Abandoned Little Angels organization and provides free eye care for patients of Casa El Buen Samaritano. Dr. Lai also supports Optometry Giving Sight.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, skiing and playing tennis. Dr. Lai also practices at Vision Source Chambers Town Center.

Dr. Lai’s personal care philosophy is all about commitment, and he has dedicated himself to making his patients feel like family.
